Bio

Madison Chymiy is an artist based in New Jersey. She was born in 2004 and has an associates degree in fine arts. She uses oil paint to illustrate the messages she strives to convey to the world. Growing up alongside prominent social media platforms, Madison has grown to understand the constant flow of judgment everyone falls victim to. Using her own experiences as a woman surrounded by other strong minded females, she paints the hardships and obstacles faced by women in today's society. She takes the ugly and underlines it with femininity to create beauty. Often using figures in surrealistic environments to open the viewer's mind to the dilemmas that are often overlooked or purposely forgotten.

Artist Statement:

My artwork tackles the bittersweet emotions presented by the “American dream”. As a woman and person with Native American Heritage I frequently feature themes including Native assimilation issues, feminism, and the progression of American culture. My artwork causes the viewer to consider the price paid by past Americans to live in the land of the free. History is doomed to repeat itself if it is forgotten; my creations make this notion prevalent.
